Cherry Lu is a fifth-year Architectural Engineering Student at The Pennsylvania State University. She will graduate in May of 2014 with a focus in construction management. After graduation, she will be attending Program in Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship Program at Brown University. While at Penn State, she enjoys participating in the Women in Engineering Program and volunteering at Global Architecture Brigades. She is also a brother of the honor’s professional fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi.
Cherry has work experience with both BIM development and project control on-site. Her BIM internship with Truland System in metro D.C. area allowed her to exercise her AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks knowledge and learn more about the coordination of electrical specialty contractor with other contractors. In summer 2013, she worked for Enduring Hydro, as the intern of owner’s representative on-site for a hydroelectric power plant construction project in Western Pennsylvania. There, she learned about project quality control and coordination. These experiences provided her with knowledge of construction along with field experience.
In spring 2013, Cherry received a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, which allow her to achieve Engineer In Training (EIT) upon graduation. She also has broad intellectual interests. Other than studying Architectural Engineering, Cherry is also minoring in mathematics and economics. As a student focusing on the construction management discipline, she was able to understand how to achieve a better success of a construction project from various aspects, rather than merely the construction process itself.
